Dyson Pamphlet
This project is my first exploration of pamphlet design, as well as further expanding my knowledge of type hierarchy, content application. The goal of this project is to create an engaging instruction manual that is easy to follow for a wide audience.
Assignment
This project required students to create an instruction manual for the Dyson DC15 vacuum. The criteria of the design included the following; being highly readable and engaging in the use of typography, as well as imploring information hierarchy.
Rationale
Manuals are often times skimmed by people and ignored in many other cases. People seem to believe that they know everything already; especially when it comes to manuals for vacuum cleaners. Thus, for the design of the manual the suggested design has visually interesting pages that are easy to read. This design approach is meant to make the audience notice the content when ritually flipping through the pages before using the device.
The layout of the pages is designed to be optimal for page flipping. This symmetrical layout is effective for the fast pace environment the audience is exposed to on a day to day basis at work and at home.
