Canon Advertisement

This set of two projects centered around the Canon Brand. The goal of these projects was to represent the brands ideas through a motion infused advertisement project; as part of class projects of two different classes at the Alberta University of the Arts.

Assignment 

Conceptualize three cinemographs for playback in a web browser. Capture and produce light-weight gif animations that provide a compelling view to a simple situation. 

Rationale 

The story behind the three gifs is based on Canon’s company goal of providing the customer, regardless of the customer being a professional, or an armature, with the best possible, quality and reliable tool. A camera that can meet their needs whatever their needs may be.

 

The Key element in the set of three gifs is the play with the aspect of the camera as a tool to create a story. The customer purchasing a tool which they can adjust to their personal needs. Specifically; ‘select’ the subject of the photo, ‘adjust’ the camera as needed, and finally ‘capture’ the desired photo. The overall purpose of the storyline that ties the gifs together is to show the camera freezing the subject of the photo in time and space while the camera and the person (consumer) can continue to move to ‘select’, ‘adjust’ to, and finally once again ‘capture’ a sill photo.
